Academic and professional achievements

I was born on 24 April 1961 in Gostyń, Wielkopolska province, Poland. In 1985, I graduated with distinctions from master program in archeology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where I also continued my education in the doctorial program. In 1991, I was a member of the research team who was honored with the 1 st grade team prize awarded by HM Chancellor of AMU. I defended my Doctor Dissertation published under title: Communities of the Globular Amphora Culture in Kujavia on 18 April 1994 with a very good grade. On 12 March 2001, my defense of postdoctoral thesis took place on the grounds of the book titled Between West and East. People of the Globular Amphora Culture in Eastern Europe , for which I was awarded the Prize of Minister of National Education and Sport. The degree of the habilitated doctor of philosophy conferred upon me by the Council of AMU Historical Faculty was confirmed on 25 June 2001 by the Central Committee for Academic Titles and Academic Degrees.
       I was employed at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań on 15 March 1994. Since then I have been affiliated to the AMU Institute of Eastern Studies, where I first worked as a technical and engineering specialist to proceed and take over a scientific and educational job of an assistant professor. Then on 06 May 2003 I was nominated associate professor of AMU. From 01 Oct. 1998 to 31 Aug. 1999 I held the function of Deputy Director of the Institute of Eastern Studies. I was entrusted with it again on 01 Sept. 2002.
       On 03 March 2008, I was appointed the Director of the Poznań Archaeological Museum.
       My academic achievements concern the Neolithic on Polish lands and in the Eastern and Western Europe. Since 1985 I have conducted research on over 10 archeological sites in Poland (in Kujawy region). I am an author or co-author of 95 academic publications (including 5 books), and an editor of 2 joint publications (one of which was published in Great Britain). I have participated in numerous domestic and international scientific conferences where I have delivered over 40 lectures (including 11 in the English and 6 in the German languages). I was also a guest lecturer on 4 universities in Germany (Bamberg, Berlin, Freiburg and Kiel), and in the Institute of National Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev. In 2000, I was granted the stipend from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation that was performed by me in the period 2000-2002 at the University of Bamberg (Germany).
       I was a co-organizer of 9 scientific conferences, including 6 international ones. I was twice a manager of research projects financed by the Academic Research Committee and Council of Sciences. I have participated four times as a reviewer in academic degree conferment procedure (3 doctorial and 1 habilitation degrees). Moreover, I am an author of five opinions on publications and two academic reviews of archeological sources developments.
       Since 1993 I have been the secretary of the Baltic-Pontic Studies series that is published by AMU. I also participate in editorial boards of the Baltic-Pontic Studies (Poznań) and Archaeologia Bimaris (Poznań), as well as in scientific council of the Eurasia Antiqua journal published in Germany. I am a member of a few academic organizations: the Poznań Prehistoric Society, in which I have been holding currently (from 2001) the function of vice-president, the Poznań Society of Friends of Science and the European Association of Archaeologists. In 2007 I was appointed to participate in the Archeological Committee of the Poznań Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the same year I was elected a member-correspondent of the German Archeological Institute in Berlin.
       I am married and have three sons (born in 1993, 1996 and 1999).
